Porsche 987/997 Shift Cable Alignment Tool | 986–997 Manual
Center the shifter once. Set the cables correctly.
A reusable alignment tool that holds the shift lever in true neutral during cable, console or short-shifter service—so you can install without preload or guesswork.

A small alignment error changes the whole shift feel.
With the console disconnected from the cables, the lever can move off center. Clipping the cables back in from that position can add preload and compromise left-right or fore-aft travel. This tool holds the reference position while you reconnect the system.
True neutral reference
Holds the lever centered while the shift cables are disconnected.
No cable preload
Creates a repeatable starting point for cable or console installation.
Factory-correct geometry
Helps preserve proper gate position, travel and shift feel after service.

A service tool—not a permanent part.
Install it only while the shift console is disconnected and the cables are being positioned. Remove it after the cables are secured. Minor surface texture and color variation are normal in small-batch production; fit and function are the priority.
Know exactly what you are ordering.
Will it fit my 987 Boxster or Cayman?
Yes. It is designed for manual-transmission 987 Boxster and Cayman models and also supports the related 986, 996 and 997 shifter architecture.
Does it work with both 5-speed and 6-speed cars?
Yes. The product is specified for both manual gearbox configurations.
Can I use it during a short-shifter installation?
Yes. It is intended for console removal, cable service, shifter adjustment and short-shifter installation, including the factory short-shift kit.
Does the tool stay in the car?
No. It holds the lever during service and is removed after the cables are installed.
When will it ship?
The tool is produced after purchase in a controlled small-batch queue. U.S. shipping is included.
Take the guesswork out of your next shifter service.
One precise reference point can be the difference between a clean reassembly and chasing shift feel after the console is back together.
