Requesting deletion of your data

What we store

Genius Loci uses Facebook and Instagram to publish our own posts to our own Page, and we read back how those posts performed. Two things are stored:

  • The access token of the person who connected our Page, which is what lets us publish and read our own results.
  • Comments left on our own posts — the comment text, the display name shown on it, and a one-way reference derived from the account id. We keep these so we can reply and so we can see which of our posts are worth making more of. We do not store the account id itself, and we do not look up, collect or analyse anyone's profile, friends, messages, or activity anywhere else on Facebook or Instagram.

Everything else we read is about our own posts, not about you: view counts, reactions and follower totals for the Page as a whole.

How to ask us to delete it

  1. From Facebook. Open Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and Websites, find Genius Loci, and choose Remove. Tick the box to delete the posts and activity associated with the app. Facebook removes the app's access immediately. Email us as well if you want the stored token destroyed the same day.
  2. By email. Write to alfadom369@gmail.com with the subject Data deletion request. Tell us the Facebook or Instagram account involved. We will confirm in writing once it is done.

Either route is complete within 30 days, and in practice immediately.

What deletion does

We destroy the stored access token if it is yours, and we remove every comment of yours from our stored records. What is left behind is a dated record that a request was received and actioned — a confirmation code and the date, with no name, account id or contact details in it. We keep that record so we can answer questions about the request later; it cannot be used to identify you or to access your account.

Posts on our Page

Posts we published are our own content, not your data. If one of our posts mentions you or includes something of yours and you want it taken down, email us at alfadom369@gmail.com and we will remove it.
